Welcome to our project updates. The Pocklington Canal is constantly evolving. At the Society, we work tirelessly to conserve this beautiful space for everyone to enjoy today, while preserving its heritage for future generations.

  • Restoring Locks & Heritage: Rebuilding, repairing, and maintaining historic lock structures.

  • Keeping the Canal Navigable: Clearing underwater weeds, fallen trees, and channel blockages for boats.

  • Protecting Wildlife & Habitats: Managing invasive species like Himalayan balsam to support local nature.

  • Maintaining Moorings & Jetties: Upkeep of water-side structures to ensure safe boarding and boat support.

  • Improving Paths & Trails: Clearing overgrown footpaths so walkers can safely enjoy the canal.

  • Creating Rest Areas & Benches: Installing and maintaining benches and picnic tables for visitors.
