Volunteering with PCAS

Volunteering is a good way to find out more about the canal, meet people with similar interests and enjoy some wonderful countryside.

PCAS Working Parties

The Work Party is a collection of enthusiastic volunteers from all walks of life and of various skill-sets and abilities. We work closely with the Canal & River Trust, Natural England and the Environment Agency. Our aims are to keep the canal and its surroundings in a clean and tidy condition for the enjoyment of all. We also tackle the restoration of the remaining non-navigable sections of the canal, including lock repairs. The group meets once a week in normal times but more often during our restoration projects.

PCAS Trip Boat

We offer short trips for the public on Sundays and bank holidays and longer booked trips at other times.  After getting to know the ropes, volunteers become crew members and there are plenty of crewing opportunities during the year.

We carry up to 12 passengers plus crew on each trip and children are allowed to steer – under crew supervision of course.  Information about our boat trips
